A Professional Journey
With a background in the advertising and film industries, Debby embarked on her career in Los Angeles. Unexpectedly, it was there that her path toward embracing Judaism began.
During her five years in Jerusalem, Debby’s husband received smicha, and they later returned to Melbourne. They served as the Rav and Rebbetzin of two prominent shuls, playing instrumental roles in establishing kiruv, education, and singles organizations. Debby’s talents also extend to writing and trained drama coaching, having directed numerous high school productions and showcased her comedy skills.
Five years ago, the Garfunkels relocated to Tom’s River, N.J., to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Debby continues to contribute her expertise through teaching, matchmaking (shadchan), and delivering inspirational talks for various organizations.
